        editor's note
Editor's NoteThe turnings of life seldom show a sign-post; or rather, though the sign is always there, it is usually placed some distance back, like the notices that give warning of a bad hill or a level railway crossing. —Edith Wharton, The Custom of the Country Shopping. Shopping for curated projects, shopping for reviews, shopping . . . for content. Well, even the editor’s note is on a shopping spree. Shopping for what an editor writes in the obligatory ‘editor’s note’? (This was covered in issue #4 editor’s note, www.zingmagazine.com). After 11 issues, our readers know what zingmagazine is . . . (otherwise turn to page 37 for “about zingmagazine” or the previously mentioned website) . . . Now. What’s the trendy and what’s gauche, or do these adjectives have any meaning, much less power in reportage. If they do, it harkens back to high school or better even junior high, yet maybe these parochial forums—no sign-posts here—reflect “the genie in a bottle” that . . . is shopping, nearness, popularity, pink, Christina. Then, everything matters, and maybe that’s where we should be concentrating. Where everything matters. ebay. Whoa, what a sign-post. Devon Dikeou
